More about Domotel Arni Historic Hotel

In the Greek mythology Arni is the daughter of Aiolos and Melanippi. It is said that she gave birth to twin boys, children of Poseidon (God of the seas, rivers, sources and drinking waters), Aiolos and Voiotos, founder of the nation of Voiotes who inhabited before 1900 BC. the region ruled following by the Thessalians, and named the city after their mother.

Where ancient Arni used to be located, close to the city of Karditsa today, in 1878 Dimitrios Tertipis, head of a group of Greek revolutionaries beat the troops of the Ottoman Empire. Three years later, in 1881, the Greek army invaded the city of Karditsa. Forty years later, in 1921, the politician and businessman Konstantinos Tertipis, brother of the prime mover of the Revolution, had been the creator of the magnificent neoclassic two-storey palace with the characteristic dome, giving the hotel the name of the city where his brother had been glorified.

ARNI is one of the oldest Greek hotels operating ever since as hospitality unit for visitors. Its advantageous location makes the hotel the ideal starting-point for multiple activities in the broader area of Karditsa. Because of this spectacular location the hotel has been selected twice as headquarters. The first time by the Italian and German occupation forces and the second by the allied troops after the liberation of the city in 1944.

Following, the building continued to operate as a hotel, until 2005 when introduced in the luxury hotel chain DOMOTEL that totally renovated, modernized and transformed it into Domotel Arni, a A’ class hotel, to offer visitors the ideal area for relaxation, work and recreational activities in nature.
